Throughout high school I struggled with reading and writing. I was always put into extra English classes in middle school to help me when I became a high school student. Reading and writing has never been a strong suit of mine. Since I was child I never enjoyed reading, which I believe affected the way I write. When I was taught MLA format I always thought of it as a step by step process instead of something creative. Writing was always something I never minded doing but I was never good at it. Throughout my high school years essays have always been step by step. Take a point, find a quote to support your point and then explain what the quote means. I always struggled with writing introductions and conclusions because I thought I was repeating myself too much. Writing to me has honestly always been boring. I feel like I have good thoughts but never know how to write them the right way for the sentence or top to make sense. My teachers always told me they would help me with my writing, but I never took advantage of the offer until my senior year of high school. This was a poor decision on my chose. I wish I took advantage of my extra writing classes when I was younger, so I don’t have to struggle as much now. When given writing assignments in high school, I was the kid to always do it last minute and rush through it because the writing prompt was never interesting. When this happened, I wouldn’t be able to take breaks and think about what I was writing. My peers would help me correct it when I was done and usually none of it made sense. Somehow, I would always get my papers done on time but they were never done to my best ability.

Something I would like to improve in college is my writing in general and time management. Time management has always been a huge struggle of mine and being able to space out my work would help me in the long run. Something I would like to improve in my writing is to make sentences and ideas flow better together. I feel like most of my ideas are good and correct, but I can never find the right order to get my sentences to flow together.

The three clubs I emailed when starting this project was the nutrition, powerlifting and pre-dental club. I did get a response from all three clubs but I chose the nutrition because I have always have had a love for my own nutritional health. The nutrition club was established last fall at the University of New England. That means that the club is fairly new the campus, Caroline says there are roughly 10-12 participating members as well as 5 officers and there are no requirements to join the club. When contacting the club Caroline was the one to respond to my questions to learn more about the club. The nutrition club is for students that are interested in improving their nutritional health and the local communities around them. Something I found interesting when receiving Carolines’ email back was that the club has several community service opportunities for the upcoming year. This was interesting to me because I would like to be involved with this opportunities.

Being involved with the nutrition club would enrich my college experience because I could find different opinions to eat while having limited opinions in the dining hall. This club could also help with benefiting ones health. I know personally I get into moods where I  track my calories, steps, proteins and everything in between. Coming into the school year I wanted to minor in nutritional and I still haven’t tried to do that. Going to this club would personally help me to take a minor here. This could also help with getting involved with community service and help my resume. This would benefit my life after UNE because I would have more knowledge with my intake on calories, proteins, etc. This would so benefit me to not become fat when I have to live one my own.

  1. Why did you decide to come to UNE?

There aren’t many schools that offer dental hygiene, and UNE gave me one of the larger merit scholarships which played a big role in my decision. Also I loved the campus and idea that that its a smaller school so there’s more personal one on one learning.

I love UNE. I think there are a lot of helpful resources available included in our tuition that help attribute to our success. I feel that everyone here is very inclusive and the Professors really want us to succeed.

  1. Would you recommend attending UNE to prospective students?

I would-it all depends on what you’re looking for. It’s a very small school, and there’s not much to do on the weekends, but overall it’s a very good program.

  1. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? Do you like the dance team?

Im apart of dance team. Yes-I do enjoy the dance team. The people are very friendly and I love dancing and being apart of something at the school.

  1. Why did you come to UNE?

UNE was the best choice for me because they offer my program of study and I was accepted directly into the program and could not refuse the opportunity. It was also the school that I got the most financial aid from. And lastly it was far enough away from home but not too far.

  1. What do you think about UNE now?

UNE is a great school because it is a small campus and I can’t get lost. They also offer lots of fun activities to do and have a lot of supportive staff members to turn to in times of need. Lastly it is right on the beach and it can’t get much better than that.

  1. Would recommend attending UNE to prospective students?

Yes I would because I love it here and want other people to experience it as well. I would tell them that the small campus is great because the longest walk is only 10 minutes. And the beach is even closer!

  1. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

Yes I play on the varsity volleyball team and I have had so much fun. The girls on the team have been so nice all season and it was really nice to be able to make friends with older people that know the ropes. Also being able to come onto campus early was really good because I got to learn where everything was before all of the other freshmen.

  1. What is it like playing volleyball for UNE?

Playing on the volleyball team has been great! I’ve made some great friends along the way that I wouldn’t have met otherwise. I can’t wait for the upcoming seasons!

  1. What is your biggest priority this semester and why?

My biggest priority is to keep my grades up so that I don’t lose the early assurance for my program. I also want to keep working out even after volleyball is over. And as always, I want to keep making more friends!
