College essays are much different compared to high school essays. In high school, I would usually pick a quote and then write a paragraph around that. English 110 is different, I usually pick a quote after all my ideas have come together. For example, in my final paper I used this quote, “And back in our new home, we occasionally eat burgers and chicken coup and smoked salmon and tuna steaks. But only whenever we felt like it. And that, I thought, was that. And I thought that was just fine. I assumed we’d maintain a diet of conscientious inconsistency” (4). I used this quote when talking about the troubled middle and how Foer went back and forth about eating meat. I used this quote because I thought it really showed the even though he was vegetarian he still was “allowed” to eat meat.
