Learning Outcome 3

I was never one to enjoy reading and it was honestly hard to read some of the literature given this semester. When reading by myself I found it hard to understand what I was reading. Professor Drown showed me tools that helped, such listening to the readings online and having the ability to pause as need be. My wonderful friend helped me with this as she would me read me the literature and I would annotate what I believed to be important. As she read more ideas came to my head and I would try to write them down. Critical reading was hard at first but as the semester progressed my annotating was expanded on. My classmate’s thoughts in class decisions helped with my own thoughts. Professor Drown taught me to take information and pull it apart. For me sometimes it was easier to write a diagram or have notes from decisions from class. I would usually write or mark up what I found interesting or what I thought could be used in my next essay. Underlining, highlighting and writing in the margins was an important part of my annotating because if I was looking for a specific part of a lengthy piece of literature, I could easily go back in and find it based on my annotations.
